Year 5 and 6 had a great time recently working with an artist to plan and design our banner for the Man Engine March which will take place in Willington on Saturday June 30th. Man Engine is Britain’s largest mechanical puppet and was originally made to celebrate the mining heritage of Cornwall. He has proved so popular, that he has toured many parts of the country that also have mining in their blood. Willington is honoured to be the ONLY County Durham town chosen to host this magnificent sight and all local schools and churches will take part in the march. The children produced images which celebrate our local history and they were transferred onto silk which will be painted and carried in the march. Although a ticketed event, our school has been given 50 places and we expect a good turn – out for this event. Year 5 and 6 have certainly been privileged to work on some fantastic projects this last year!
